History
Le "Grand Hotel", situated in the heart of the city center of Calvi, was built in 1913 by the family Fossati. It is moreover thanks to Pierre and Madeleine Fossati, and their children, that the tourism took shape, before winning its letters of nobility at Calvi.The "Grand Hotel" was bought back in 1963 by the daughter of the famous « parfumeur » François Coty : Christiane Coty .
In the time, the modernization of the hotel turning out at once difficult and expensive, the new owner decided to shave it and to reconstruct it the other one and became then a “luxury hotel four stars": 50 rooms, a panoramic restaurant overlooking all the city, the citadel and the gulf of Calvi, luxurious lounges...
The "Grand Hotel" was intended to welcome the biggest stars, it was inaugurated on July 24th, 1964, in the presence of Tino Rossi and Charles Trénet.
Hotel of legend, which was a part of these luxury hotels which one marked the history of the island hotel business, this hotel knew its displacement in 1985, when his owner requested it.
But, frequented by stars' pleiad: from Montand to Gainsbourg and from Brel to Bécaud, the "Grand Hotel" will always stay this hotel "opened on the outside world", where the hosts were always and will always be received with a lot of heat and generosity
